Miriam MateriaTech is an educational resource bank with over 8000 items specifically created and purchased to educate, rehabilitate and enrich the lives of individuals with development disabilities (autism spectrum disorders, global developmental delays, and physical developmental delays). Our service is open to families, schools, private professionals and larger rehabilitation centers. Loans are processed via our web-based catalog, which inventories all items contained in our library. The number of items that may be borrowed simultaneously is limited to 10 for parents and 30 for professionals, for up to a 90-day lending period.
Miriam MateriaTech is housed within Miriam Foundation with its entrance at 8090 Montview, Mont-Royal. MateriaTech is located within the heart of the island of Montreal and is easily accessible by public transit.
Sorting, Adult Education
A handmade educational task made up of a plastic container with 18 compartments that each have a different type of hardware pieces glued to the base. Multiple objects are provided to sort into the corresponding compartment. A green container is provided in order to secure the objects upon presentation of this task.
Become the bee that makes the best honey by gathering pollen from different flowers and plants from the garden ! This recognition system will help children match a smell to an illustration starting from a very young age. 2 to 4 players, 3 years old and up.
Language & Communication
Take a token or card, look at the emotion on it and look for it in the scene. Can you find the character who is sad? And the one who is afraid? Can you explain why they are experiencing these emotions? Find the Emotions is designed to help children ages 2 to 5 recognize the primary emotions (joy, fear, anger, sadness and disgust) in different people. The game also helps children understand that certain situations can lead to multiple emotions. Objective: To get the child to associate emotions with situations. Duration 15 to 30 min. 2 to 4 players. Ages 2+.
